Nanowrimo: National Novel Writing Month. I signed up on their website. I am far enough behind that I don’t see catching up. And going to Arkansas/Mississippi for Thanksgiving for 12 days will crimp that style even more. But 6 days into it, I have 1400 more words than I did October 30th. Even with being behind, my plan is to stick with it. I’ve told too many people about it not to finish.
I have no grand visions for the story itself. So far, it’s probably garbage by many writers’ standards, but, hey, it’s MY garbage, and that goes a long way for me.
The night before the “contest” started, I had the first sentence in my head. No plot, or action, or any real people at the time. Now I have three characters who haven’t yet figured out how they’re going to damage/fix each other, and it’s teetering on becoming a superhero story set in another universe. I’ve been watching a lot of Smallville. If I’d been watching Firefly, they’d probably be cowboys in space.
I’m really glad I’m doing this :)
